BRAY WILKINS was born in Wales in 1610. No record is found indicating when he came to New England, but in 1632 he received a grant of land in Dorchester, Massachusetts and on 16 May 1636 was made a freeman by the General Court of Massachusetts. He became a member of the first church of Dorchester and at its reorganization he was admitted 9 Apr 1640. An indication of his character is shown In a petition in his own handwriting, beseeching the General Court to provide professional services for "a boy who hath been lame for the greater part of the time," asking this assistance because "I am a poor man."
Bray Wilkins married HANNAH or ANNA GENGELL. Their marriage probably occurred in Dorchester, Massachusetts between 1632 and 1636. As Hannah, "wife of Bray Wilkins," she was admitted to membership in the First Church in Dorchester 23 Jun 1636. Her brother was John Gengell who was mentioned in court records 20 Dec 1688 as "brother-in-law of Bray Wilkins." John Gengell was a partner in business with Bray. Some of the time he made his home with the Wilkins' and when he died his will provided that all his property be divided among the children and grandchildren of Bray and Hannah Wilkins. His death took place in Middleton, Massachusetts 1 Jan 1701-2 at age 91. The time and place of the deaths of Bray and Hannah are not known. They had eight children.

Timothy Wilkins bought land in Massachusetts in 1737 which he later sold to his sons and in 1764 moved to Hillsborough, New Hampshire where he became a prominent citizen. He was one of the incorporators of the town and one of the signers of the Association Test Papers in 1776. He also served for some time as town treasurer. When a church was to be built, he donated a fine piece of land in the center of Carlisle for the site of the edifice. They had six children, four of whom were born in Middleton. Their eldest daughter Sarah married Isaac Peabody. After the death of her husband, Ann married Deacon Parmenter of Antrum, New Hampshire.
